Pro: Most well put together Kyoto Animation series

Con: ....I got nothing

Final Thoughts: Why why why does anime this great never capture the attention like other Kyoto ani works. Screw Clannad screw Air screw K-On! screw whatever else I missed. Why waste your time watching all of those when this is the only one you need. This is the best of the best and the top of the pyramid when it comes to Kyoto animation. It does everthing right on so many levels. I feel a little extra special and smarter for knowing this series exists in our world.

Story: Hyouka is a typical slice of life with mystery and romance subplots only done a bigillion times better than most anime. The first major arc focuses on strangely enoguh the meaning of the title itself "Hyouka".It is displayed in such a way that does not feel to slow or too rsuhed as we see our characters become closer and interact. Think of it as the anime version of scooby doo only without the typical annoyances and lack of character. All characters are treated with repect and are relatable in their own way. The romance subplot is devliered with such genuitintiy and cuteness that it makes this more than worth the watch. The OVA is a great little side story that adds some more great interactions between our characters.

Characters: Oreki Hotarou our main character would prefer not to be involved with any form of work, but due to his intinctual hormoneal urges is forced to put up with our insanely curious Chitanda Eru. The other two characters are great for their own reasons and the classical literature club does feel like a legit group. Hotarou's older sister get little screentime (we do not even see her face), but is an enjoyable chracter as well. Other classmates that the group encounters throughout the series also fell realistic and are all treated with respect.

Art: Every frame is a piece of art in this seires. It is a kaiedoscope of vision, heart, realism and symbolism. It is probably the most gorugoues 22 episodes of animation ever produced.

Sound: Sounds how it looks in other words perfect! A lot of classical pieces are played which makes you feel like you are in an art museaum. The second ending theme is a great nod to sherlock holmes and is a cute Kyoto ani signiture ending theme.

Final Score: 5 curious stars

Reccomedations:
