Mini Review
Pro: Good Music, Decent Animation
Con: Ugh Characters, Ugh Story

Final Thoughts: On the outside this series seems innocent enough with a girly almost kid friendly feel, but for me personally this is the kind of series you have to grow up loving from a young age to enjoy it. Much like another series known as "A Little Snow Fairy Sugar" which I grew up watching and liking, this series does nearly the same only to a lesser not as successful degree. It tries to incorporate a larger more dark and dramatic story rather than keeping it smaller which is its major fault. I feel little to nothing for our "main romance" between Niwa and Rika. Risa Harada was a fun annoyingly girly character that could have played a larger role in being more mature than her twin sister. Unfortunately you have to care a lot about Niwa and Rika to like this show (which I did not). Dark is a fun character and it is interesting to see him play off the more timid Niwa. But in many ways it feels a lot like the Yugi and Atem kind of relationship that has been done before elsewhere. The animation is pretty decent for its time and the art in the manga is superb. The music has some great romantic sounding classical pieces that fits well into the story. The first opening is pretty great as well while the dub is just ok. There are a lot of annoying characters scattered throughout like a filler girl character and this other classmate whose name escapes me. The guy with glasses is boring and Rika is...well annoying Rika. She is a stick in the mud who is only there to serve as a romantic interest. At least Risa had more of a personality that stirred up some conflict. All in all, this series did not do much for me other than give me some drawing inspirations as well as pretty music to listen to. It might make a good first anime for some, but falls into the same boat as many other popular animes like: Ultra Maniac, Shugo Chara, Tokyo MewMew and Petite Princess Yucie. In other words it gives off a bland taste and leaves not much to be desired.
Final Score: 2 stars
Recommendations:
Ultra Maniac/Petite Princess Yucie/A Little Snow Fairy Sugar
